Dual M.D. Program

This dual degree program offered through Georgetown University School of Medicine and the Department of Philosophy allows students to pursue either an M.A. or Ph.D. in philosophy while earning an M.D.

The program is only available to students pursuing their medical degree at the Georgetown Medical School. Students wishing to apply to the dual degree program should consult the Medical School’s admissions page for information about applying to the M.D. program. The Philosophy curriculum and requirements include:

Up to nine credits for medical school courses may also be counted towards the Ph.D. in philosophy, up to six credits towards the M.A. For more information about the requirements for the M.A. and Ph.D. in Philosophy, see the Department of Philosophy’s Graduate Handbook.

Thinking About Applying?

The application deadline for Ph.D. programs, including joint M.D. and J.D. programs, is December 15. The application deadline for M.D./M.A. and J.D./M.A. programs is January 15. Please note: All application materials must be sent directly to the Graduate School, not to the Philosophy Department.
