Kristin Primus to Join the Faculty in 2014
The Philosophy Dept. is thrilled to announce that Kristin Primus (ABD, Princeton University), a specialist in Early Modern Philosophy, esp. Rationalism, has accepted a position as assistant professor of philosophy. She will spend the 2013-14 academic year at N.Y.U. as a Bersoff postdoctoral fellow. Ms. Primus's doctoral thesis is entitled "Keeping it Real: Causal Independence and Divine Support in Spinoza and Leibniz." (Her doctoral advisor is Prof. Daniel Garber, one of the world's leading experts in Early Modern Philosophy.) She holds a BA in Philosophy (with departmental honors and university distinction), 2005, from Stanford University, as well as MA's in Intellectual and Cultural History (with university distinction), 2005, and in Philosophy (with university distinction), 2007, both also from Stanford University. She has received numerous awards and fellowships, incl. an exchange fellowship to study at the École Normale Superiére (rue d'Ulm) in Paris, France, and a Mrs. Giles Whiting Honorofic Fellowship from Princeton University. Ms. Primus reads Latin, German, French, and Italian.
